Voluntary work by Trustees: As at March 2011

From time to time People First Foundation Trustees volunteer their services to various projects and community initiatives. See below voluntary work that PFF trustees have been involved:

Frank Julie - Chairperson:
  1. Various consultations with Step-Up-for-Life to develop their programmatic focus and funding proposals.
  2. Consulting with I Am Somebody to develop their focus areas and advice on their registration as NPO and board development.
  3. A free workshop for Haven Night Shelter managers on effective proposal writing.
  4. A free strategic review workshop for the Kensington Police Forum
  5. Free bursaries for 8 NGOs in CT to attend a 3 day fundraising, proposal writing, networking and governance workshop.
  6. Guest speaker at the launch of the Dept of Social Development Community Development Forum in Bellville.
  7. Advisor for the Lavis Past Pupils and Teachers Association.
  8. A free workshop on effective money management for staff of the West Coast Community Foundation.
  9. Free review of Khanyisa School annual budget to bring down projected deficit.

Ronell Swartbooi - Vice Chairperson
  1. Assistance with registration of primary school kids at the Kit-a-Kid-4-School event in Delft, hosted by Party with a Purpose productions.
  2. Co-presenting the Workers World Labour Show on Cape Town TV. Broadcast Wednesdays and Sundays on CTV, and Tuesdays on Soweto TV on the DSTV network. Produced by Workers World Media Productions.
  3. Panel speaker as part of the Thirteen Hours Youth project. This project is supported by the Department of Social Development in Western Cape.

Ricardo Wyngaard - Founding trustee
  1. Presentation on governance for Student Enterprises.
  2. Serving on the Pro Bono Committee of the Cape Law Society (CLS). Eligible small community-based organisations with gross income of less than R250 000-00 per year can apply to the CLS or recognised pro bono structures to be assisted by on  legal issues by attorneys on a pro bono basis. 
  3. Serving as trustee of the Step-up-4 Life Trust.

Peter Hendricks - Treasurer

1.       Serving as voluntary advisor to the Board of the DRAYC (Denver and Renee Andreas) Youth Club.
2.       Serving on the working committee in the enabling environment for CSO’s of SANGOCO Western Cape.
3.       Serving as a volunteer lecturer with the Every Nation  Leadership Institute.
